whew, we squeaked out a 10 point victory tonight for a nice showing of fans; joel, heidi, mike, and even kurt stopped out to watch us play some ugly basketball. but a win is a win. the highlight of the game: kevin and i jumped for a rebound and brought it down together, he elbowed me in the ear, and we both got called for traveleing since we both had the ball. all in about one second.

i decided today i'm dropping my fluid mechanics course. it is a waste of my time. the instructor does nothing with classtime and takes everything from the book - i'm just as good off teaching myself, so i'll do that this summer. taking 21 credit hours is not fun, either. once april rolls around though, i'll be finished with another independent study and hopefully stop attending my audited CAD class, so then i'll be down to 12 hours. i'm barely scraping by on my homework as it is, and i haven't had any tests yet. i can't wait to drop this class!

i agree with you, brian, about people not having drive. it bugs the heck out of me. i can be very short with people who just don't care. especially because, if they cared, they could actually be somebody.

here's a bit of eric trivia: when i drink caffeine, and then run within 24 hours (at least a mile), i get migraine headaches. so i've avoided caffeine altogether for about 2 or 3 years since i run a lot, and caffeine is generally not good for you. but since i'm taking this month off of running, so my legs can heal, i've learned the wonders of a cup of coffee, or a can of mountain dew, what have you. i'm now a machine. i love this stuff.

i'm happy at the response i got to go see 'bowling for columbine' but unfortunately i can't go tonight, tomorrow, or friday. maybe sat. thanks for asking/emailing though, i appreciate it. :)

i did some research on the interweb and found some depressing news: february, on average, is actually colder than december. that's right, february is the second coldest month of the year. at least its only 28 days long, i can't stand february. andrew & heidi, keep thinking about summer, camping out, etc. it seems we're only a warm breeze away...

joel, check out my friend brian's weblog, he has a 'mac moment' of the day for every day. he's one of us. together, we can help apple crush dell and any other PC. though i do have to admit, xp isn't shabby at all.

we won our intramural BB game tonight, and i actually played ok. we're 2-0 and should have a nice tournament run in a few weeks. our guys team plays tomorrow night and i'm happy to say that we'll all be representing at h2o beforehand. you can't beat that.

talk to your professors. they're much more interesting & caring out of the classroom.

i know ray and brian have already heard what i'm going to put in the weblog, so you guys don't have to read any further. btw, check out brian's new weblog link on the left.

today i got waved to by a pretty girl while i was in my car driving down I-75, and it was sweet.

so my fluid mechanics professor has been going the whole semester letting us out of class at 11:50am, since our class starts at 11am. but he doesn't realize that the class is on Tues & thurs and so it's really supposed to go until 12:15pm. of course, we as students (about 25 of us) know this but don't say a word. when our prof comes in today, he had realized that he had been letting us out 25 minutes early, and instead of yelling at us or being mad.....he apologizes! and says he's going to buy us pizza because he's been stiffing us out of our class time! kind of like God's grace - you totally deserve something bad for being a jerk, but instead God says, nope, its all ok, how about i buy you pizza because you're so cool?

another problem taken from my math book (its the first example from today's class): "in the wake of the challenger disaster, NASA officials estimated that the chances of a similar catastrophic accident during a shuttle flight are roughly 1 in 78..." the example, then, is to find the porbablility that a shuttle will crash during the next 20 launches. that probability is calculated to be 23%, which is really high, considering NASA probably logs 10 flights a year. i think that the US gov't (and especially know-it-all journalists) need to pay attention to that number - and that the investment of billions of $$ is at risk too, not to mention the lives of the astronauts. i'm sure they're aware of the risks though. its just the ignorant population and media that isn't. [end rant]

i'm tired of a lot of things, but encourage by mens group and by the h2o band i was playing with tonight, in such a busy day, there are a few bright spots (you prolly know what i mean, wags).

i'm leaving my homework unfinished to get some rest.

first off, i did not eat a payday candy bar today. i think i'm out, in fact. i like to believe that the payday is a 'healthy' snack because of all the peanuts, and, well, caramel i guess. but its better than a twix or a snickers, or a milky way for the matter. you know what candy's good though? peanut butter m & m's. now that's something i can't get enough of (insert mallrats quote here).

next, let me add to the face that mike, joel, jesse & i came up with - i can't stop making that face now. its almost involuntary. not as good as the original though. mike, you shall see it some day. oh, and i haven't tried the c code yet, i think i'm going to have to rewrite my program in c instead of maple. prof sun didn't know how to call functions in maple, either.

i fell asleep in the library today. i had a weird half-awake dream, my arm was all tingly when i woke up because my head (re: huge noggin) was stopping the blood flow to my fingers. kind of like a head rush, but for my arm. an 'arm rush' maybe? or i suppose you could have a 'foot rush' too (and yes, don't think i didn't think about the 'junk rush' or something like that, i just chose not to make a joke about it, but it looks like i just did, so get your mind out of the gutter anyway).

its rainy and windy here, it almost feels like pre-pre-spring weather, and i feel good about that. heidi, when are you sleeping in your box? hopefully when it gets a little warmer. and you know what i found out today? u. of colorado at boulder, in the rockies, has an average dec-jan high in the upper 40s. that's right, about 15 degrees warmer than here on average. in the rockies. just one more reason to move out west.

please, one of you who reads this, wait for me to go see 'bowling for columbine.' because most of my friends have seen it and i still want to go.

pinewood (sans rick) led worship today at covenant church, and it was positively amazing. my brother tim even stopped out and i was very happy to see him there. mike filled in on drums and was great too. what a refreshing way to start the day.

amidst some homework and lousy programming assingments, i played basketball at the rec and went 2-2. i played 4x last week so hopefully i'm getting a little better.

i decided to blow off some homework and instead hang out with the guys from men's group because, i'm a senior, dang it, and i'm not going to do homework all my life. mike, jesse, joel and i came up with a new look to rival zoolander's magnum.

i absolutely can't stand mondays because that means (duh) it's not the weekend anymore, unless its MLK or labor day or something, but don't count those for just a second. it's not that i don't do homework on the weekends, it just at a more leisurely (re: treasure) pace and there's no tests or quizzes or deadlines or that junk.

on a side note, even though you may not believe it, NASA is one of the more brilliant agencies that the government funds and the amount of research it produces is very under-represented to most of the general public. so much behind-the-scenes work happens at all of their research centers that it seems very naive to think of NASA as just an organization that puts people into space.

i started shooting "the guys of Q4" this morning and have 4 scenes edited already, justin would be proud. everything's going really well. everything will be finished by feb. 13 when it shows at h2o. you better see it!

you know what annoys me? people who laugh at their own jokes. not the "he-he" laugh, but the really hard laugh, really thinking they're funny. not the edwards laugh, or the brad or rick laugh, but someone else really likes to laugh his own jokes when he makes fun of other people, and its really annoying. and then when they listen to justin timberlake really loud at 12:45am. end rant.

basketball at covenant was brutal today, for some reason we play ridiculously sloppy and i think we're all worse by the end of the day. tomorrow hopefully we'll play at the rec where some real ballers are. no offense, but its just not the same. much more fun, of course, but much more sloppy.

coldplay says this: "
I awake to see that no one is free
We're all fugitives
Look at the way with it
Down here, I cannot sleep from fear, no"
