so i studied all day for like three days and took another exam today. this one i was much more prepared for than my exam two weeks ago (the magnificent 57), but it didn't matter too much because my brain froze on one of the four problems, and i sucked on another problem, so suddenly i'm not doing so hot in this class either. we turned in our midterms, and promptly received a take-home midterm (that we have exactly 48 hours to work on from the time we start it over the course of the weekend). so this is sucking big time because the take-home part looks pretty tough.
i know you're tired of reading about my sucky classes, and i'm tired of writing about them. hopefully, maybe, someday, i'll have happy news everyday for you to read. i certainly hope so.
robin i hope you're not reading this because you've heard me complain all afternoon and plus, you got the second problem right and did a lot better than me.

now, which of the above statements is true? both. i'm content with a 'b' and i guess that's how grad school exams work. major curves. like the women's store. so i guess i won't drop that class, because grades don't mean anything as long as you learn the material and get at least a 'b.' i've a new major test on thursday, where the professor is quizzing us over about 500 power point slides. then, upon handing in the exam, we receive a take-home exam that is due 48 hours after we start on it. so there goes this weekend, and the rest of this week, frisbee practice, frisbee tournament in delaware, jenna coming to visit, etc. but i'll be learning a ton and maybe getting a jump-start on a concentration/specialization.
the temp was up to 80 today, though i was inside for most of the day and missed the nice weather. i did venture out to the sante fe where i ate with a few other grad students and found out that its warmer here than in tucson where jeff lives.
anyway, i think robin and i are going to guest lecture in each other's classes next spring. i'll be a big jerk and see just to build him up.

frisbee finished in second place today out of 10 teams. we beat rutgers 15-14 in an intense battle, and then upenn 13-8. penn made it to nationals last year, so it was a big win for us. we lost to george washington in the finals 13-9 i think. it was our best showing in a few years, the guys say. the weather was still perfect, about 75 and sunny with no wind and it was a great day to play frisbee.
church this morning was kinda rough, the music team (of which i'm a part) was rocky at best. we got through all the songs but i'd like to move on from that experience, i think.
so it looks like i won't be home until thanksgiving, for sure. though i may still have a visitor or two before then; i'll keep you posted if everything goes through. the problem is i have so much stuff to do all the time that i'm not a very good host. and i'm trying to get stuff done ahead of time but its not working to well yet. adam has a theorem, that no matter how much time you have before an assignment is due, it will take the full amount of time. so i started my helicopter assignment yesterday, and its not due until the 11th. according to the theorem, i'll work on it every day until i have to stay up really late on monday night and get it done. so far, the theorem hasn't ever been proven false out of the group of five grad students. getting ahead is not physically possible.
i'm gonna grade some papers and then hit the sack. week ten starts tomorrow.
