oh man. maryland lost a heartbreaker to wake forest this afternoon, we had seats on the floor and were up in the court's grille but couldn't do much about the final score. ncaa tourney hopes dim . they've made the last ten years, so not getting 20 wins a season is a bit of a lapse.
today jenna and i ran with the "run, walk, & volunteer club" in baltimore. about twenty people converge on a bakery/bagelry type of store on a saturday morning, run or walk between 2-6 miles, and volunteer once a month at a local charity. that's all there is to this group. probably the nicest (& most fit) people in the city we met today, and i persuaded jenna to run four miles, a career long for her. it makes me want to start my own club.
so guess who's going to chicago in less than three weeks? me baby, me. and justin will be with me too to congratulate kurt on his recent engagement in the windy city. after that, what's there to look forward to? two words: base ball. put them together to make one word: baseball.
its 58 degrees on a saturday, i'm going outside!

fortunately the aerospace guys can build helicopters better than they can play basketball, as we lost to "bimbo fiesta" my six. there wasn't really much else we could do, we didn't play that bad and the bimbos had a good offense. i was a few boards away from a double-double, jason tells me.
haiti still isn't doing well, but the missionaries that jenna lived with are on their return to the united states as i write this, although they are returning for medical reasons and not because of the violence, despite having been robbed by gang members earlier this week. yes, they run an orphanage and were robbed. pray that the orphans and the other staff will be safe while the family is gone, and that they can regain their health while back in the U.S. this stuff is a bit more scary when its personal.
i got into the office at 9am today, which is a record on a friday when i don't have much to do. i've been doing some research and some homework so that i'll have some time open next week for jenna's 23rd birthday. the staff at the jazz club we went to last week thought she was 16, and almost didn't let her in.
is anyone really upset that the yankees may be without a few starters for opening day next month? certainly not here. and the orioles may actually be competitive after signing tejada, palmeiro, surhoff, ponson, and javy lopez this winter. $5 fridays at camden yards: it doesn't get much better than that.
back to the helicopters. did you know that the helicopter blades move up and down as they spin around? its called "flapping" and i have an entire class devoted to it. does the fun ever start?

maryland kept its slim hopes for a ncaa tournament berth alive tonight by beating clemson by 20. and i made a tip-in for the game winning point in my fourth game at the armory today. winning rules.
i hope you've heard about haiti in the last week or so...jenna heard from her missionary family there that they're safe but food & fuel prices have doubled since the rebels started taking land. pray for haiti and the missionaries there. not only do they struggle to get by everyday, but that is twice as hard now, and no end in sight. again i ask you, please pray.
i don't want to spoil the news in case you haven't heard, but my roommate this past summer, kurt, has some very good news! "some jewelry was exchanged" as my cousin put it.
kathleen's flight was delayed from 7:15am to 4pm, so guess who slept in? me baby, me. once she did get in, i picked her up and we met up with jenna, ray, erik, and ben in georgetown for dinner, then saw some smooth grocery-store jazz with one of kathleen's bridesmaids. we rehashed some fun wedding stories and talked about some of my family over some cold beer and crab-artichoke dip.
today then, church was rockin', our band practice was rad, and then maryland completely sucked against duke, there's no other way to put it, they were horrible. mates of state canceled a show at umd (after we had gotten there for it) so the rest of the night was instead spent trying to stay awake reading helicopter theory books while entertaining my sister-in-law.
more trips to the airport to deliver kathleen back to arizona, and some sun and frisbee in store for me.
anyone paying attention to the news from haiti? jenna's missionary family is coming home in two weeks...its really bad there.
