it's been a while. blogger's been down.

i just went to the bgsu football game with my parents. it's pretty cool hanging out with the family, even though i live barely a mile from their house, i see them about every two weeks. props to bgsu football, 7-0, they've got a tough schedule ahead.

mom and tim are coming to church with me tomorrow for the first time. i come from a catholic family, and made the transition to full-fledged christianity near the end of high school. i don't know if my family has ever seen a strong christian church in action (not to take anything away from the catholic church), but i'm excited that they're going to get an opportunity to do so. kind of nervous, but excited.

ray's family is chilllin at our apartment this weekend, including his 1 1/2 year old nephew. this kid is so cool that i decided i would like a child on an hourly basis. of course, it has to be a guy. like, i'll take care of him for a few hours a day, and then you take him home and change his diaper and all that junk. i'll play with him and race him up the stairs and watch him run into walls and get clothes-lined by chairs and making spetacular falls. i love rhymes and i love kids.

ah, back to studying. yes, i'm aware it's saturday night. and yes, i'm aware that we don't have school tomorrow. but discipline is something i need to keep in my life, and i've needed lots of it to get through the past week (and this coming week). after i turn in my numerical analysis midterm, and my calculus project, and take the gre, and meet with my professors on monday and tuesday, i will take a very deep breath, relax, and sleep for 12 hours.

losing some steam on the ole' homework. but i'm excited to see my friends and roommates again.

did you know that you can get carded for buying superglue at a grocery store? i guess some kids still mess around with that crap. how do they even get started on it? it blows my mind. i suppose there's probably a good market for it, standing outside the junior high at 2:30pm waiting to see who's got a little extra lunch money. in fact...maybe i'll "investigate" that tomorrow...

my english professor wrote on my essay that he thought i was intelligent. consequently, i skipped his class today. ok, so skipping his class was more of a consequence of lots of math homework. but come on, who wants to sit through a 1 1/4 hour english class at the end of a long day?

i just don't have the willpower to keep plugging away at the applications right now. i need a break (did somebody say, "weekend?!")

i forgot to mention that i saw mike run from olscamp to wherever he was going, and i was going to yell, 'hey, he stole my wallet!' to see if anyone wanted to be a hero. but instead i just chuckled to myself and wondered why the heck mike was running with a backpack on. maybe to find his id that he lost.

i'm excited for next year, wherever i'll be.

i'm making progress with grad school applications.
here's the list of schools i'll be applying to, if i applied right this moment:
colorado
maryland
penn st.
uc-davis
uc-san diego
ohio state
(uc = university of california at...)

for most of these places i've contacted and/or met with a faculty member. i have finished the "biographical" part of all of these applications.

in other news...
another 14-hour day on campus. geesh.

ready to live a little.

ugh. the feeling knowing this week will be stupid. instead of helping my flag football team win another championship, i'll be working on math. instead of trying to, but not really, helping my softball team win a few games, i'll be doing homework. i think you can see the pattern.

but on the [somewhat] brighter side, i'm beginning my graduate school applications as of yesterday. i hope to have them completed by the end of the week. i've already started the letter of recommendation process, and the gre will follow suit next week tuesday. as i'm sure justin knows, filling out appllications stinks. an "arduous" task. that's a gre word.

that's enough complaining for one day. let me continue to lighten the mood a little bit...because you know what was really funny today? watching two different people fall while walking to class this afternoon. this girl was talking up a storm to some guy when she bit it and tumbled to the ground. it was great. "i'm such a $#I@ klutz." and then a rollerblader was out by the union and he wiped out really good. it was one of those things where he got up and looked to see if anyone noticed. i pretended i didn't. they both got up and were ok.

and to the tune of mike edward's suggestion, i took a little time out of my day to sit and relax and be enveloped in solitude. i was chillin just outside of ridge elementary a few hours ago, soaking in the night air and letting some stress pass me by. it was mike's goal to do that everyday this week. so consider monday a success.

kathy qualified for boston! how cool is that?

the bgsu football overtime win ruled pretty hard. and despite the slim margin over western michigan (who?) bowling green climbed to #22 and #24 in the polls. next week, ball state.

yesterday was a great day. i'm not sure why. seein' a lot of friends, getting some good studying in, and the fact that it was saturday.

speaking of studying, physics exam tomorrow, ouch. i'm getting these concepts bit by bit...it's really time consuming though, i don't like missing pick-up basketball games and getting a good run in. let me take this a bit further and describe the two ideas i find myself wrestling with the most:

1) study more-> learn a lot, good for the ole' grad school plans, but not hang out with friends as much
OR
study less-> learn just enough to get by, but have a blast in the meantime.
we probably all go through that battle. or at least pretend that you do so i don't feel so bad.

2) drink coffee -> stay up later, concentrate through drowsiness, get some needed energy, don't run
OR
don't drink coffee-> don't stay up late studying, go to bed when tired, but get a good run in.
because i can't run with caffeine in my system or i get migraines. but i really, really want to drink it so i can be productive late at night, rather than zoning off and staring at the wall for 10 minutes at a time. plus, cool people drink coffee.

today's decision: study more, don't drink coffee, don't run because i don't stinkin' have any time. :(

thumbs down: seeing people drunk
