a bit deeper than most, is this post.

do movie-girls really exist? women portrayed in movies often have unbelievable character, you know what i mean? the guys are jerks, but the girls, they're sweet and sincere and just plain cool! are there girls like this in real life? i've met one, maybe two that have the potential to fit that bill. i dunno, after watching a movie, something intense or funny or whatever, i usually get emotionally attached to the girl, and then get disappointed when i realize there's not a whole lot of girls out there like them. call me naive, i'm just giving you my thoughts. granted, i'm not talking about american pie or jay and silent bob or whatever. girls of substance, if you're out there, give me a call.

mmmm, kath, i think i do need to clarify an earlier blog. perhaps it would be best over chess and coffee at grounds or somethin. i hold the view that the world is very logical in a mathematical sense, that everything (i think) can be represented by math (it's the "language of the universe"), while at the same time God has the ability and power to do whatever He wants with it. it seems contradictory, i'll admit. i'm not well versed in philosophy (perhaps ashley can help me out) but i think my worldview exists within christianity and is rational in an every-day sense.

or maybe that paragraph just confused the heck out of you (and me). and kath, your opinion does matter, i appreciate your thoughts too.

one final thought on a completely different subject: i was talking to alaska justin today, and we were talking about grad school and gre scores, etc., and he tells me that he's pretty sure about continuing his education after graduation in may. then he writes, "my top choice is colorado at boulder. what's yours?" to which i reply "MY top choice is colorado!" he suggested we share an apartment, i asked that we train together for a marathon. it's settled. it's gonna work out. now all we have to do is apply and get accepted!

i took a lot of pictures of the fading fall colors this afternoon. and it wasn't emo - i was just being creative. if they're any good maybe i'll upload them here, but that's a lot of work.

you know, living by yourself may have some advantages. we were chillin at scott's studio apartment, and it was so stinkin' cool to be able to do whatever you want and set things up wherever, etc. no one to blame for not doing dishes or cleaning up or any of that crap. nothing against the boys at q-4. it would probably be a bit lonely though.

we're starting a q-4 legacy. we want people to refer to us as "the q-4 guys." we'll leave a lasting impression on them for the rest of their lives. just ask nicole and sarah. they know the magic and power of q-4.

the stretchy skin was a chick magnet again tonight. i guess i absent mindedly play with the excess skin on my face, it's stretchy and smooth and soft, and you can't not touch "glory hole" on my face and not laugh. yeah, you know what's up.

a relaxing weekend awaits. sleep, homework, and college football. what could be better.

oh yeah, patrick and i were finalists at the h2o costume contest. we were siamese twins. it was good.

sometimes roadrunner sucks.

hey, it's a beautiful fall day outside, so why not quit what you're doing right this second and go run and play in the leaves or something. it's way too nice to be sitting at a computer. speaking of, what they heck am I doing here? i've got a class in 10 minutes, that's what i'm doing here.

to the edwards family, and anyone else with some change in their pocket: for christmas, i'd like a boss dr 707 workstation, it's got some awesome drum loops and is much more flexible than the groovebox (boss mc 303) that i use right now. i would also like a new pair of jeans, probably a darker denim color, 34x34 i think fits me, i'm not sure; i haven't bought new jeans in a while. i would also like the new harry potter book as soon as its available for order. and a polypro long sleeve shirt to wear when its cold outside (and i'm running) to keep me warm.

for as much credit at kerouac gets, his books are awfully hard to get through.

applications are about half finished. the 'statement of purpose' is being edited as we speak.

i took the GRE today. since it's computer based, i got my results right away. i'm not going to post my results here; if you'd like to know then please ask me. i did very well on the section that i needed to do well in. what's awesome is that i have a lot of opportunity now to get admitted wherever i want to. it plays in well with my faith - I pray to God that he work in me and that he takes me wherever it gives Him glory, and so, by helping me do well on this test, He's opened doors for me virtually anywhere. as i apply for school, He will continue to work in me by closing doors and opening new ones. i have no idea where i'll end up. it's exciting, living for God.

if you think that's kind of a weird thing to say, ask me about it sometime too.

i think i'm gonna take phil j.'s advice, and not look around for a while, it doesn't seem worth the energy right now.

today's awkward moment is brought to you by wendys. try the mozzarella chicken sandwhich, it's excellent.

so i'm working on my little mission of going to the bathroom in every building on campus. i'm in overman hall today and make a pit stop before class. a physics professor comes in and recognizes me while i'm doin' my business and starts talking to me. that *breaks* rule #1 of guys going to the bathroom: you don't talk unless you're on equal footing. if i'm going to the bathroom, you can only talk while you are too, not while you're washing your hands or starting the hand dryer or that crap (unless you're a good friend, otherwise, it's awkward). so i'm talking to this professor while going to the bathroom. he looks around, keeps chatting, then *obeys* rule #2 about guys going to the bathroom: you don't use the urinal/stall directly next to another guy. you give him some space. and here's the part that made my day. since there are only 3 urinals in the bathroom, and i had the end, the professor had to use the one on the other end. of course, that was the short one. and of course, this professor is at least 6'4". so, while breaking rule #1 and obeying rule #2, he has to bend his knees and center his weight in order to stand up and go to the bathroom, all the while having a conversation with me about football. it was only a situation that an edwards could have enjoyed.

that said, let me also point out that my math midterm is finally turned in and i think i smoked it. a few of the grad students were even lost on a couple of the problems. that's good for me (ok, yes, i am competitive as far as school goes, i guess it comes with the territory as far as me wanting to do well in class).

flag football tonight in the cold. what more could anyone want? (p.s. snow in the forecast for wed)

what time change?

i went to church with my mom this morning, i'm glad she was able to see what h2o church is all about. i big conversation impending, perhaps. but it will be a good conversation i think.

analysis midterm is kicking my butt. probably > 12 hours on it since friday. it's due tomorrow, and i actually have most of it done, and i actually (i think) have most of it right. it's a good feeling, working through a long problem, and getting the right answer.

let me go off on a tangent here. (ah so many math words). one of the things that's incredible about math & physics are the laws that govern everything in nature. i mean, EVERYTHING works. gravity always works on everything, be it a car or a wall or closing a refrigerator or flushing a toilet. you always find the volume of something by interpolating and integrating. you can always push on something and have it push back. you can always add 2 +2 and get 4. you can always expect these things to happen. you never see a car driving around in the middle of the air upside down, or see a hole in the ground without gravity or anything. everything on earth is governed by the same fundamental laws and axioms, and to me it's a beautiful thing to see them all come together. like when we're working on something in physics and lo and behold, we come to a result from a whole different branch of mathematics that i took two years ago. even objects like imaginary numbers hold to the same prinicples as ordinary real numbers. if you're not a math person, and this is over your head, don't worry, just know that the earth DOES have order to it and it's pretty cool to be able to see it. not that i'm enlightened or anything, i mean, sheesh, i still struggle through doing some basic math that everyone in my classes learned months ago...

now that i've said these wonderful things about math, i will proceed to curse it for the next hour or so. go figure (stop it with the math words, sheesh!)
