watching the war on tv is scary. very, very scary.

somehow i did some homework, cleaned the apartment, and watched basketball/gulf war II (with a vengence) at the same time all afternoon. i'm trying to dig myself out of the week of homework that i neglected due to being sick, but sometimes, especially with the ncaa tournament on tv, i lose the motivation.

tomorrow i have class at 9:30am. that's right, a class on saturday. why, you ask? well, by going to class tomorrow (and one saturday in april), our professor said he will cancel class for the final week of school. so i go to school on 3/22 and 4/12 and get off on 4/29 and 5/1. its not a bad trade-off, if you ask me.

did anyone see the end of the maryland-unc wilimington game? what a finish!

lunch with franklin was awesome today. its cool to talk music with people that actually know music. we were reminiscing about past UAO concerts (this year: the donnas. whoop-dee-doo) and i'm glad that neither of us have been too happy with the shows at bgsu yet this year. my recommendation for an arena-size tour to come in:

weezer. tenacious d. jimmy eat world.

and yes, that tour came through ohio last year. i would pay to see it again. i would not pay for bush, (maybe moby), they might be giants, the roots, ludacris, run dmc, the donnas, or reel big fish (maybe when i was a freshman). sorry UAO, but you haven't brought a decent band to campus during my four years. period.

its weird, i felt pretty good today, but with no appetite. i couldn't even finish a piece of plain toast for breakfast. after just eating some pretzels and some sprite, i'm stuffed. weird.

i really need to crack down on school this weekend; i've a lot catching up to do. speaking of catching up, i'm going to bed.

this post is short; but that's what you get some days.

i started feeling better today. still not great, but at least i'm not camping out in the bathroom any more. i ate three slices of toast and two popsicles today, but i'm not even hungry. i feel so blah, no energy, you know how it goes.

so i didn't go to class or work today, i watched the bucks lose in the NIT, and made it to the second bald bull in mike tyson's punch-out. that's what i did today.

pinewood has a show tonight, but since i still don't feel very well, they're playing it without me. i feel bad about not going, but right now i don't need a the 1 1/2 hour car ride to play in a smoky bar. our sound is coming back a little, anyway, hopefully we'll have some more shows in the next few weeks.

you know you need to do dishes more often when you throw some away because there's mold growing in them. that's sick.

hopefully i'll see you around tomorrow!

being sick sucks. i feel a little better this morning i guess. i even just weighed myself, i'm down to 160lbs. (less than my usual 167-170) because i couldn't keep anything down yesterday. anyway, hopefully i'll be back and ready to go get 'em tomorrow.

check out my spring break narrative, complete with pictures!

you'll notice a big change whenever you see me next - and no, i was not in a lawnmower accident.

so i'm beginning to warm up to the idea of attending ohio state next year. of course, i'll have to see what three other schools decided as far as financial aid goes, but for now having all expenses paid, with no job, sounds pretty nice to me. and of course i'm a buckeye at heart - not a falcon, a buckeye. that's the way it goes i guess.

i know everyone thought today rocked because it was warm. so why don't we all just move to san diego where it's like that every day? my dad says, "because you won't appreciate it as much." true, but does that matter? its still 75 degrees every day. what's there not to appreciate?

so i showed up to my numerical analysis class, not having done a lick of the take-home exam, and i ask the guy next to me how far he is. he replies that he's finished, and that the exam is due today. so i panic for a few minutes, in disbelief, until the professor comes in, and he calms my fears by stating that the deadline is this friday. so now my classmate is exasperating (is that a word?) and can't believe he gave up his weekend to get the exam finished. sucker.

ray, pat, matt, and erik and i tossed the 'bee around this afternoon, it reminds me of the fall when we were undefeated and won the intramural league. those were the days, now my teams can't even make it past the semifinals.

my bracket will beat your bracket. creighton all the way, baby. actually i went along with 90% of the population and picked kentucky to win it all.

russ is a windows user, and boy is he really eyeing my ibook. we just priced out a sweet new G4, it was just shy of $5000. apple may be more expensive, have less clock speed, etc. but you know what? it's frozen once on me this year. ONCE this entire year. i couldn't scan in all my pictures on a PC before it gave me two blue screens of death. i rest my case.

looks like ohio state wants me at least - i just got a letter from them, and they offered me a university fellowship! a fellowship is where the school pasy for all tuition and fees, plus a monthly stipend to help cover room and board. and, you're not even allowed to work on-campus for it, meaning that there's no research or teaching assistantship.

i'm excited to hear from the other schools - but for now, this is pretty fantastic!

"how was your spring break? good. how was mine? great." I expect to have that conversation at least a dozen times tomorrow.

i started out my training today, with the nice weather and all. this time i'm incorporating some weight training and a nice ab workout to better help myself in shorter races - i'm thinking may a few 5K or 10Ks and a 5miler here and there. i can't wait until i'm back in shape - this afternoon's run of about 2 miles was easy and i'm ready to run much more. i learned my lesson from last summer though (shin splints) and will be slowly building up this time.

the roommates came home one-by-one, and it was good to see them. i'm going to do my little bit of complaining here and say that, by no means am i looking forward to numerical analysis at 9:30am tomorrow. i hate stupid school.

i visited my grandma today, she's 77 and though my other grandma has passed away, i don't think either of them was ever over 5 feet tall. maybe they shrunk, i don't know, but my grandma is seriously tiny. my cousin nicole was showing off her wedding dress today, she looks great. of the 16 cousins on the one side of my family, the oldest two have been engaged by 21 years old, and i'm next in line. so on the way home, my mom asks the best question ever, "so, do you go with anybody these days?" do i "go with anybody?" first of all, we're no longer in the 60s. and no, i don't i suppose. i mean, i've got friends here and there but nothing that looks like a relationship. which is just as well, since i'll be graduating in two short months.

oh, and i know you're curious: on the other side of my family, i have at least 40 first cousins. it's huge, i know. i don't even know all there names. my dad was the 8th out of 9 kids, and his oldest sister had 10 kids (my dad was an uncle at age 1), several of the others have 7 or 6 kids.

one more piece of family history: i'll be related to my cousin nicole's fiancee on BOTH sides of the family. distant cousins on her side, and second cousins on the other side. wow.

you know what's an underrated snack? triscuits.

thumbs down: do i even need to mention it? the end of spring break 2003
quote: "getting through the west bracket will be like trying to eat a tomato through a fence. it'll be messy" - acutal quote from a cbs announcer during the ncaa tournament selection. ok, this guy is getting paid six figures to compare a basketball game to eating a tomato through a fence. who is trying to eat a tomato through a fence? is there a sandwich involved, or just the tomato? what if it's a cherry tomato, that's not too messy, is it?
