i've been home from maryland for a few days now and i'm gonna be leaving for missouri tomorrow with netface so he can check out apartments there. i guess that's one advantage of being jobless, the fact that i have no responsibilities to anything, and can travel as much as i want to. until the money runs out.
so what do you do without a job? all the things you wish you could do during the school year! like reading in the park, running everyday, lifting a few times each week, sleeping in, rollerblading around with no destination, and playing mariokart for snes like its your job. my legs hurt from running, the same old pain from last year, but i guess i'm just going to run through it. i had a few runs of note this week: a 3.7 miler at 6:50 pace, and a 5.5 miler at 7:30 pace. those are good for me at this early point in my training. i hope to run a 5k with netface later this month, a few in july, then the pemberville 5-miler in august, and then a marathon in october or so.
i've been listening to a lot of reggie & the full effect and the all-american rejects, they're about as pop-y as i get but some of their guitar work is still sweet, though the chord progessions are a bit cheesy.
congrats to tim, suzy, kelly, and any other HS students who just finished the year. hopefully, as you say kelly, you'll all get a chance to hang out. though tim and i have our trips to take this summer, too.
1117.7 miles in two days, and i now have a place to live next fall. (it would have been cool if you could have come along, andrew). had i a digital camera, i would have taken a picture of the house and put it here. its not bad, in a decent neighborhood, about a mile from campus. its kind of late in the game to find housing, so i imagine next year i'll find a better place. but its good. the driving wasn't actually that bad, i had some good jams, plus i was in the zone for most of the trip and soaking in the surroundings. and thanks to kathy for the revitalizing oreo pie in columbus at 12am. when i arrived at college park on sunday around 9pm, i took a night time drive through the campus, and was absolutely pumped. i had to change the lyrics of ben folds on my stereo, "everybody knows, it ROCKS to grow up! and everybody does, so GOOD to be here!" i'm really excited for the move in august. of course, i don't know anyone in the entire city, and that's scary, but its time to move on, i think.
but before i do, we're going to drop a 32" tv from a grain silo tonight.
the one problem with taking a long trip by yourself (can you relate justin?) is that so many things are funny, but you have no one to laugh with. my favorite was an exit in west virgina for a town called "jessop place." say it out loud in your best hick voice.
