well i just found out today that my brother tim is taking the homecoming queen to the dance! attaboy tim, attaboy. i hear she's a cool girl. sorry howie day's not on the list, i mean the dvd/ep is a sweet album but its not in the top 10. it doesn't have any significance behind it yet, while the others do - specific times in the past where the music has brought me through and solidified memories for me. kinda emo, but you know what i mean.
everyone went out to party tonight but i'm just not in the mood to see kids waste their days away. probably the highlight of the night was watching the end of the cubs-braves game with the roommates who said they'd rather just chill than go out. i was all up for chillin so thats what i did. plus tomorrow's a full day so why not relax while i've got the time?
screw productivity today, i say.
i'll eat my words come tuesday.

so i was brushing my teeth this morning, and i go to put my toothbrush away in the cabinet, only my toothbrush doesn't go away but instead falls out of the cabinet, bounces on end from the sink, and lands square in the toilet. i briefly considered rinsing it off but decided, after thinking about my #2 just a few moments before, that i had better throw it away.
so if you have some cash laying around please send it to:

we had our first real fall day today, which is good given the start of october. a six-mile tempo run was absolutely great this afternoon, where a cloudy day plus temps in the 60s gives perfect running weather. though riding back in the cold kind of sucks. tonight is expected to be the first frost, i wonder if we have the same weather here as ohio. i'm ready for the leaves to change color and apple cider, at any rate.

you know what's funny though? aaron mynatt. because in high school (or elementary school, for that matter), whenever we had to line up or count off for something, he'd always say, "how about we go alphabetical by first name?" i've never lined up alphabetically by first name for anything, but if i did, i imagine that anyone named aaron would be at the front.
did i mention i have an autographed 'hey mercedes' poster on my door right now? new album, a week from today. listen online. its unbelievable.
go here for a funny story about living in the dorms in college. the same kind of thing happened on my floor, we used tennis balls to peg people coming out of the bathroom or computer lab.
today was a 15-hour day on campus and i'm exhausted. i worked with robin and dan on some homework last night ridiculously late (robin didn't even sleep) and turned in a crappy homework in one class, but a good one in another. i felt really bad turning in my bad homework and have resolved to do better on the next set due next week. i did most of the work a few days before the deadline, but mis-read the assignment and ended up in deep shee last night. so now robin and i are gonna try to get everything done by the weekend to ensure we do it right.
but surprisingly the rest of the day was great. i had lunch with jim yesterday and talked to our church's pastor jeff tonight for a while - we had a great discussion on drinking, and how to handle situations with all sorts of people - christians and younger kids, when alcohol is around, because though i'm 22 and of age now, it doesn't make some of these issues any easier.
and i also learned i'll be playing electric guitar at most sundays this semester with an all-star band!: jim on acoustic and lead vocals, matt on drums (the three of us have played together already and there's some serious chemistry), dan on crazy keys and running samples, plus some outstanding BGVs from a slew of other people. i'm totally stoked on our team and i think we're gonna lead some rockin' worship soon. and for this, i thank God.
i'd like to hear some more of your free will thoughts, andrew.
glad the major-domo thing was cleared up. i was just confused over the term 'domo' i guess. who knew it had so many meanings.
i consider myself a true baseball fan. what baseball fan doesn't want to see the red sox and cubs in the world series? as long as the braves and esp. the yankees lose, i'm happy. i'm rooting for the sox as much as i can. sorry about the astros, j. they had a ridiculously good run and i'm sure will be contending next year. hargrove was fired by the orioles today after four fourth-place finishes in a row. but who can you blame when the front office trades away the best players (like jeff conine) to competing teams for a few minor leaguers. maybe it makes financial sense. but the club is so young that they need some good, experienced vets around to do anything next year.

we're supposed to play a frisbee tourney at towson tomorrow, but its been raining all night and everything around here is already *very* wet from the hurricane and other rain last week, so it may be canceled. that would be disappointing to say the least.
i talked to my parents for the first time in a week or two, and they're great. but they're also parents - you know, always looking out for the best and everything, but sometimes it seems more like nagging. so it made me feel good to be out here on my own again: my live, my choices. but all with good intentions, i know. sometimes you just have to live and find out things on your own though. experience, you know?
as a final note on the squirrel conversation with kelly, let me say i ran over a squirrel with my bike last week. it ran out right in front of me and thump, there you go. but it was ok and scampered away.
there was also a big dedication to jim henson, an alumnus of UMD last week. he would have been 67 i believe. anyway, the U. unveiled a sculpture of henson sitting on a bench in deep conversation with kermit the frog. i have to say that its one of the best sculptures i've ever seen, very life-like and so cool. there was also a parade-style kermit on campus for the dedication. so picture this: i'm walking to the union, turn a corner, *boom* a 50-ft tall kermit is out to greet everyone. and i heard the green cupcakes were good, too. henson's drawings of oscar and big bird are on display at one of the libraries on campus- supposedly many of the characters were based off of people from his hall, professors, etc. its pretty cool.
