that was some good news, huh. i wish every post could be so rosey. first i'll have to get through exam week! for starters, i hope you caught some of the maryland-florida basketball game. umd took out the #1 gators on the road in an ugly, defensive game. joe, robin and i are going to the pepperdine game on sunday and hopefully darryl strawberry will be in attendance again.
i haven't broken 60 on an exam yet this year. that hurts.
but two of my exams are take-homes and i've been plugging away all day on CFD, what i'll specialize in next semester. my other take-home i'll do on monday. the only in-class exam is on thursday, which i'm gonna try to study tough all week for. i'm typing this at my office where i spend 37 hours a day, and my programming assignment is running in the backround. let me check for a sec....nope, not the right answer. its okay though, it takes a few hours to get all the bugs smoothed out.
anyway, enough about school. has anyone heard the new blink-182? robert smith from the cure sings on one track and its pretty catchy. other than that blink's sound is a lot different, not crazy punk of old but a bit more melodic with some of the usual cliche cheese. its aight though.
is anyone paying attention to the democrats presidential primaries coming up next month? there's an article in the post everyday about dean and usually another on kerry or gephardt, but that's about it. i think kucinich is a pretty cool guy too. the elections are a year away but people are already going nuts over it. i wonder if bush can keep office.
i've got a monster cold so i'm gonna keep pluggin away, go to bed, and sleep sweet.

justin, i'm so stoked for you and merritt, i'll go to school and be an aerospace engineer and make money and give it all to your film company because i'd love to see you succeed and quite frankly i'm tired of watching bad movies. so count me in as an investor, just give me a few years and lets' hope i can pass my classes.
mike, i hope you're recording some of your ideas, i'd like to hear them.
kelly, i lived in darrow, are you an honors kid? its a fun dorm and kinda quiet and kinda nerdy. the sundial is the best part of kreischer, and easy access to lot 6. other than that, bring your walking shoes!
there's some news on this side of the world too. where to start? read through, i promise it will be worth your time.
i got "picked up" by my advisor for spring semester, meaning i no longer have to attend class at 9:30am and grade horrible homeworks. instead, i'll be starting research in early january and have my own desk, computer, etc. i'll have a professor to answer to and probably some more stressful deadlines. but research is what grad school is about in my field, and so starting it earlier is better. robin, mike, and adam all have research opportunities (just in the last week!) and so we're all feeling pretty good. we celebrated with chipotle and some mexican beer for dinner.
the next one is a long story. before jenna went to haiti, she applied for a few jobs, including one with americorps. when she got back from haiti, jenna's sister told her to hound americorps a little to make sure she could get in sometime this year (because her sister was in the americorps for a few years. in case you don't know, americorps is like the peacecorps but in america...comprised of volunteers in most cities who work as social workers and do lots of good things to help people). but instead, they called her and asked to do a phone interview. pretty soon she was sending her reference information, and everyone was contacted, and everyone told americorps that jenna rules. and lo and behold, she got the job! it actually uses her communications degree and social work experience for a pr position with americorps and another volunteer organization. what a cool job, helping people and making a living from it.
oh, and the job is baltimore.
baltimore is 30 miles from my house. and she didn't ask for anything around here or anything, thats just where the opening is.
jenna drove here last weekend and we looked in baltimore for apartments for her. we checked out some studios and efficiencies and that kind of junk and she's got a few good choices. we hit it off at robin's birthday party and at jim's earlier in the day, where kara, heather, and alaina made me the biggest chocolate chip cookie ever.
we watched punch-drunk love while she was here which i wouldn't really recommend unless you're in an art-cinematography mood, because we weren't. it was kinda like watching blackhawk down with ben, jenny, and jesse. that movie shouldn't be funny, but was to us.
for some gravy, robin and i got some good grades back in helicopter today (who gets A+ in grad school? we do, thats who!) but i'm reeeeally nervous to get my other exam back. but who wants to think about that.
i got plane tickets today, from dc to dayton, and from orlando to dc. why the different cities? pinewood road trip to florida, that's why!
so thats my happy news. the weekend was great, and break looks to be sweet. i just gotta get through the next week and a half alive and you'll see my big smile in BG soon.
now i'm watching spike tv with my roommates. the mxc show is unbelievable.
let me say this: i credit none of this as my work, but as God's blessing, as his credit, his grace abounds, and its for his glory anyway. i've been having loads of fun with the worship team and at our small group bible study and so its great to get to know some good people. and jenna's already made friends with a few girls in the church!

jenna came up for the weekend, we've been to a christmas party and robin's 23rd birthday party and had loads of fun. jenna totally beat robin in a butt-off dance. that's my girl!
