i was thinking today, what would the world be like if everyone was a runner? not necessarily a racer, but a runner. we'd see obesity on the decline, along with diabetes, there would be less smoking, most likely a heightened awareness to nutrition which means fast food may become less prevalent in favor of smoothie stores and organic food marts, people would be generally more disciplined, and i believe, take spirituality much more seriously. finally there would be a huge increase in the amount of knee and hip replacements, so invest in those kinds of surgical doctors now!

i didn't even run today, or at all the last two weeks for that matter. the weather is sick and the sidewalks are not clean, so i will wait until both clear up before setting my saucony-soled foot on them. in the meantime, i played some sick basketball today, which, other than a few consecutive three-pointers, was beaten by an ugly stick. let me put it this way: you know its bed when my team is begging me to shoot.

it was kind of comical though, i played with 10 other grad students from my department. most of the guys haven't played much (or aren't too coordinated, as it played out) but it was fun nonetheless. i've a feeling it was much funnier than i even imagine. two indian guys wrestling on the ground for the ball, a guy named carlos who stops at nothing to shoot, and of course robin looking like barkley backing in down in the post. i miss the days of covenant ball. anyway, these foreign guys are hilarious because put them together in the classroom and they can build you a helicopter. put them together on the basketball court and the can make 1/10 free throws.

i also found out a lot more of what i'm going to be doing, check out this website. that's a comanche helicopter, and i'm going to be looking at the wake (in the air, though you can't see it) from the rotor blades spinning around (the tips move at about 700 feet/sec). so its interesting stuff and looks pretty cool.

justin, not only did ben folds put out a few eps but he also recorded a live album that i almost picked up in dupont circle two weeks ago. i may wait for the big pepsi promotion to download the songs though.

i also browsed through the colorado trip picts (linked on this page) and i thoroughly enjoyed seeing them. check out some of the sunset picts, they're astounding.

jenna will be back from a week in philadelphia tomorrow, we may go see my friend dan's band play in annapolis. the week is done for me!

the first day of classes was monday, but we got a huge snowstorm and so the university was closed. on tuesday, the university was open in the morning but closed in the afternoon becase of ice, freezing rain, and general crappiness. my two classes were still held and one is interesting, the other is boring.

so a big difference between maryland and ohio is that marylanders panic when there's a forecast of snow a week away. grocery stores sell out of some staples when a 4-6" storm is coming. and the driveres, holy cow! not only are they bad normally, but put a layer of ice underneath the tires and you've got yourself a party on the street. a party where cars hit each other.

adventure better be sending a cd out here, thats for sure.

other than that i'm not feeling especially great, i'm at the point where i'm not sure if i should get checked out by a doctor or if i should just wait it out. i'm not really sick but things are hurting in weird places, like between my stomach and hip and a little in my back. i'll probably have my appendix out just to be safe.

i'm not serious about the appendix but now that would be funny if it was!

enough time spent on this, i'm at work. enjoy the days off!

the trip to connecticut was as good as advertised, with lots of time with ashley and michelle (with jenna), reminiscing about bowling green while talking about school, life, and starting a family. we haven't seen each other since august and it was great company again. what a good, solid, Godly person ashley is. smarter than a whip, while goofier than i've ever known him to be. oh, and he's in grad school at yale.

we spent most of our time lounging and talking, staying in and staying warm. the drive isn't too bad though we didn't have time for Boston or nyc. its only a tank of gas away, so we'll be there again sometime soon. new england is downright terrible in the winter so it may have to wait until the temp is about 50.

right now the dc area is bracing for a 4-8 inch snowstorm, classes are to start tomorrow but no one's sure if they will. my two classes are both on tuesday/thursday so i'll be doing research anyway. and then ray moved out here for his internship so we're gonna eat in arlington tomorrow night.

oh and marr, someone had a sign that said "duhon is going down...on redick" and on the back it said "orioles in 04. yankees suck!" i hate the yankees. and the lakers. and duke.
