my digital camera came today.

finally you don't have to read about my world, you can actually see it.

for example, i helped jenna move today (again). but i didn't have my camera with me, or else i could show you her chill old apartment and her swank new one. oh i can, and i will.

i'm going to try and manipulate some free web hosting services for now, but if you know of a good photo hosting place, let me know. i tried yahoo's but it had problems uploading my files, and i know brian uses .mac but that costs some money. i let www.pwderby.com run out because its kind of pointless putting money into a website for a band that is no longer playing together. any ideas?

and because i was helping jenna move i showed up to my intramural basketball game late, though it didn't matter because we got smoked, for which i completely blame robin because he slept through the entire thing!

more phots to come, you can bet on it!

music: reggie, dashboard, and fsf
quote: "welcome to the neighborhood!" - friendly neighbors, unlike jenna's old ones that said, "you better watch yourself around here."

brian's link is back up now that he actually updates, as well as a new one from tess who is mike & justin's friend that i actually had a class with back in the junior year, but i never talked to anyone because i was intimidated by all the honors english kids when i myself was an honors math kid. oh, and mike's link is back up, i don't know what happened to it in the first place.

so how jacked up is this: jenna has to move apartments because she just found out that americorps is paying her *under $10,000* for the entire year! brings a whole new dimension to 'living at the poverty line.' thankfully she's moving into a place with another americorps volunteer but still, you'd think that *the people and organizations helping the unfortunate might be able to get a little more help from the government they're doing so well to represent.* i mean, we want our soldiers in combat to be happy and proud so we pay them lots of money (re: GI bill). then our "soldiers in combat" in the US, those helping people fight welfare and get on their feet, are paid a laughably small amount of money. and bush's recent budget recommendations? no help.

how can this city, this state, this nation help its people if they don't even pay the ones who are giving the help?

i realize that it helps the workers to be in similar circumstances with the people they are working with in some cases. but i refuse to see how anyone can not get into debt by working for the americorps. at least in the peacecorps, the volunteers are out of the country where US $$ are worth much more than they are here. and when some americorps volunteers (like jenna) are not even allowed to get a second job, or risk losing a loan forgiveness award at the end of her service.

sorry about that rant but its hard seeing real life sometimes.

anyway, i'm trying to figure out if panda chinese food is good for you. i mean, the rice, the veggies are thumbs up. the orange chicken i'm still burping up, a good five hours after the meal. and what is it fried in? but it tastes so so good.

further seems forever is finished after their lead singer (not chris carabba) quit. this actually happened a few weeks ago but they even canceled the tour, and have yet to record vocals on their otherwise-completed album. i liked fsf because their guitar players were jazz muscians turned rock stars. its all about the fundamentals, baby.

justin, you sound helpless on your blog, how to inspire the uninspired, i don't know for sure, especially when you're inspired yourself. i don't get it how people can go through the exciting years of life not inspired to do anything.

any news on adventure album?

some alethia and some chillin' tonight, i finished my homework so lots of rockin coming your way.

I OWE EVERYONE A HUGE APOLOGY.

THIS BLOG IS OFFICIALLY BORING. I'M SORRY I DIDN'T REALIZE THIS EARLIER. I think I did, but just didn't believe it until now.

You see, I've been archiving my blog entries from last year and reading over some of them and, well, there's some really good stuff in there! I mean, lots of honest thinking, decent opinions and it was even funny. But not anymore. I'm still writing about Maryland as if I just moved here, but I've been here for six months now (!) so that's enough time for me not to be boring and tell you only what I did every day and withold all of my rational thinking from these web spaces.

I mean, I still do have some good thoughts or some funny stories or real life happening but for some reason I don't write that down here. Maybe I'm struggling with trying to make BG people care and still read this blog, while trying to reach some UMD people here.

So I'll try to be a little more enthusiastic here and dream some more about things like NASA and how to stop people from getting killed in College Park, which after this week is not an easy thing to do, the finer points of college basketball and why Duke sucks, and how much you as friends mean to me. That's my pledge, I'll try to make it work. If its still boring, then tell me, and I'll not be an engineer anymore.

digital camera? yep. maybe now you'll get to see all the places i go and people i see, rather than relying on film for all my boring pictures. and being scanner-less only makes the digi camera that much more attractive. in the words of steve jenkins a few weeks ago, "of all people, you still don't have a digital camera?"

the weather finally broke today with some 40s and sun, to continue indefinitely they say. i ran around lake artemesia for a while and did some work at the office. i also discovered a music store with lots of old guitars & amps, some way cool gibsons and a few old fender amps. a definite stop in the future.

oh, and i managed to sleep for a nice 12 hours last night, missing my 8:30 alarm by about, say, 2 hours. so much for getting the oil changed in my car.

thanks for that justin, i'll see what i can do about that album this week. plus i'll live with you in austin no sweat, i'll make helicopters and you can make movies.

this weekend was so reminscent of bowling greeen that its ridiculous. my georgetown plan completely fell apart due to various reasons. brad and rick went to nyc which is cool but i didn't get to see brad at all (kinda sucks because he's less than 10 miles away). the weather was horrible so ray didn't come in either, though we'll chill next week for sure. then when jenna came over, she hit a pothole and blew off her tire. so friday night was spent trying to fix the tire, getting towed, and then waking up sat morning to find we had to tow it to another place (thank you AAA) but fortunately the tow truck guy was able to help us fix the tire and put the spare on. so disaster was averted (i wish i had my digi camera already but i don't, because the scene was unbelievable: jenna drove over two miles on her rim. no tire, just the rim.

suddenly again i'm the organizer out here which is both okay and sucks at the same time, but we got basketball/squash taken care of in the afternoon, and went "duck-pin" bowling at night with some newfound churchies. duck-pin bowling is like regular bowling except the ball is really light and about the size of a shot put, the pins are really small, and you get three rolls per frame. kinda jacked up but fun at the same time.

today church was rockin, i even saw a guy from my frisbee team (usually frisbee and church don't mix very well), then watched maryland beat florida state and are now in the thick of the ACC pack, then rocked my ears out over at jim's with another band practice. and at church we played the cars "just what i needed" with moog and all during the offering!
