the get up kids album...i like it so far. you're right mike, its totally pop-y and almost too polished for me. i see the sanctus comparisons. but there's some cool guitar work going on and the album has a nice flow to it. but how about those other tguk albums? here's my rank:
1. red letter day EP. i know there's only five songs but this album is unreal.
2. something to write home about. diversity in style and some serious rock. "valentine" and "ten minutes" are favorites.
3. on a wire. a surpise, i know, but there's a few songs that are so catchy that its ridiculous. "campfire kansas" and song #4 are sweet, some though i skip through because they suck.
4. four minute mile. i almost put this #3 because the energy is totally there, its raw and unpredictable and completely different from their recent stuff.
5. woodson. the song "woodson" is sick and shows some serious songwriting skills, did you know it was recorded in toledo?
so thats my take. i bet "guilt show" will land near #3.
now here's a toughy: weezer albums. of course we'll just look at the first two. you have to go song-by-song because this is too tough. blue album titles listed first.
1. my name is jonas vs. tired of sex. oooh this is hard, i go pinkerton.
2. no one else vs. getchoo. blue.
3. the world has turned vs. no other one. blue
4. buddy holly vs. why bother. blue
5. undone vs. across the sea. blue
6. surf wax america vs. the good life. pinkerton
7. say it aint so vs. el scorcho. blue
8. in the garage vs. pink triangle. pinkerton
9. holiday vs. falling for you. blue
10. only in dreams vs. butterfly. resounding blue.
so i guess the winner is blue, 6-4. but probably my top five weezer songs from these two albums are
1. only in dreams
2. you gave your love to me softly
3. say it aint so
4. tired of sex
5. my name is jonas
with honorable mention to waiting on you, the love of my dreams, mykel & carli.
thats enough on the lists. jenna turned 23 on tuesday so i hooked up some serious italian and we went to see the producers, an excellent comedy-musical by mel brooks at the hippodrome in baltimore. scored big points with that. the night was really fun and i think jenna had a good time, sans family for the first time.
justin, robin, lesley and the roommates watched DUKE lose and MARYLAND win yesterday, we're talking a sweet deal going on. its like if ohio state wins and michigan loses. ellen wanted to start a riot. espn says maryland's a lock for the tournament but i'm still not convinced...they need a big win against virginia on sunday at home, you know i'll be there!
tim sent me mohawk pictures, they'll be up shortly.
justin, i'll do a voice-over but i'm not sure how that can work from here. did you use the piece from grounds yet? you rule dude, don't ever think you don't.
music: guilt show
quote: "nice try on the behind-the-back" -robin, laughing at my turnover. i blame my wingman
its totally 68 right now, i left work at 2pm to go home and get some air, do some yardwork, and flow for a couple hours before my IM tourney basketball game. some new picts are online here so check 'em out and like it.
i slowly feel like my contact with BG is slipping. the people i stay in touch with don't even live there any more. i knew this would happen but i hoped it wouldn't. move on.
