yep, thats what i mean mike. BG is safe and comfortable - but those who try to be unique or do something special seem to come to the same realization: that there are too few good people in BG to make it something to stick around for. let me quickly say also that the readers here are generally from the group of "good people," i mean, you don't need me to tell you that. i'm talking about the 10,000 other bricks that go to school in town. the "good" people are all trying to do their thing but the scene is so small that generally nothing comes out of it. what scene am i talking about? every scene there is! music. film. art. the hipsters. the opportunities simply aren't available in BG, as i'm sure the edwards' know more well than any of us here. BG is a good place, a starting place, but not an ending place.
i can't believe it, brad you're keeping up on blogging lots so thats sweet, and even rick's taking a turn at the ole' blogger too. anyway i wasn't sure if you guys read mine, or really how many people from BG do. i wrote last time that i thought BG was boring, i don't mean any offense. it seemed like brad, ben, and justin were tired of it and i know everyone's talk is still of leaving: brad to boston, justin to texas, and ben to basic. so i just recently got out, an ex-townie if you will, and i want to keep on encouraging you to get out too. don't get me wrong, the times in BG are great (chillin at cosmos and seeing the key west movie was rad). but there so much more out there. i'm not out here to replace friends in BG, i'm here to make new ones. and i probably won't be here for longer than a year from now, so from then i'll be out making more friends in a new city. there's so much out there.
a trip to ohio. who would've expected it? certainly not my parents, for when jenna and i showed up at home to surprise my parents, my mother was so happy she started to tear up. jenna's mom was equally surprised and kept saying, "i'm so happy you two are here!" we even got to see justin, brad, and ben, and that nothing really happens in bowling green on a given weekend. it felt good to be home, but also kind of good to leave. justin, i hope you get out soon. its not that bg's a bad town, its just hard for anyone with big dreams to want to stick around.
we also surprised my extended family in kalida, ohio. my grandma was so happy too.
the drive both ways wasn't too bad, except for all the rain yesterday. but jenna and i had some good talks, some big talks, and i'm happy to say that we're happy.
oh, and how can i forget the orioles game!! we (jim, matt, alaina, aaron, jason, mike & cindy) went to camden yards to see the red sox play and johnny damon's hair, and the game went into 13 innings. it was a great game; lots of bunts and moving runners over, johnny damon even threw a guy out tagging in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings. it was cold and rainy, but well worth our ticket price.
justin, i liked the movie with ben the best, can you send me a quality jpeg of the shot in the country with your wide angle lens? choose the best shot, there's some good rule of thirds going on, reminds me of a jim carrey scene as well. keep up that slop dude.
