i'm having a cookout today to help rid me of some post-Ohio summertime blues. just for a day. it looks to be lots of fun and lets hope the rain holds off!

jenna's riding 160 miles on her bike this weekend to help raise money for AIDS patients in baltimore. i'm promising a butt massage as soon as she finishes. maybe she'll be able to sit down after a few days. the ride starts in delaware. hi, i'm in delaware.

gosh, i need some space this week. school just got over and i've been trying to take it lazy this week but work already started even though i don't have anything to do. the guys have been over a couple of times watching some nba (the pistons game last night was dumb) but i haven't had much time to myself. thats the thing they say you miss when you get in a relationship too, the free time to yourself. i'm not complaining, i feel very blessed with my friends, i just forget to make time for myself sometimes and then i'm itching to get out of my skin and take a day off to run, bike, and walk around the city, listen to music, and relax for just one stinking day. tomorrow we may go to the eastern shore (sans jenna) to go to the beach and boogie board a little. no surfing for this kid, i'm kinda a novice at this ocean stuff. i saw it for the first time last year.

i'll be in my car on my way home exactly two weeks from now. i'll see you then.

got the dvds justin. crutches still cracks me up. and the camera quality on "its a wonderful thing" is incredible. hope the summer of shorts goes well. i think your next feature length film will be the best yet.

basketball racked my back today. i made a little driving reverse layup and a fadeaway jumper, among others, while getting swatted pretty hard enough to keep me humble.

justin even gave me a haircut tonight and my hair is so thick that it almost broke his electric clippers.

tomorrow i'm writing a song about baltimore with jenna, then painting the baltimore skyline from federal hill. its mid-may, which means the calculator leaves and the creativity comes in. helloooo, summer!

hey justin i'll go with you to DC. camping is everywhere and its great. just watch out for the cicadas, i've only about 5000 in my yard now. think i'm joking? you should see my dumb driveway, its covered with dead cicadas and their dumb shells. anyway, i'm heading to arlington later this afternoon actually to do the first 5 miles in my marathon to see what the course is like. i'll, uh, scope out the venue for you or something. who's iron and wine?

i discovered gunpowder (lake/falls/river) this weekend with jenna, we sat on the beach watching windsurfers and windsailers do there thing on some choppy water that was surprisingly so warm! we both got some pink but it'll fade to tan. that replaced shenandoah.

have you ever explained the game of baseball to anyone before?

i did for the first time at the orioles game on friday. our group included jenna and i, justin (kentucky), plus four Indians and one French girl. the score was 9-0 when we got there, "does that mean that they have 9 home runs?" "what happens if there's a man on base and the other guy hits a homerun?" "if it hits the wall is it a home run?" i lost my voice answering these, plus many more. it was awesome. but it was alos so great because the orioles actually came back, tied the game on a play at the plate with two out in the bottom of the 9th, only to lose in extra innings. we were on our feet at camden, in $5 seats that let us see the whole stadium and playing field. the indians said, while the game isn't as exciting as cricket, it was till fun to watch. i call them 'the indians' because they're all from india and wayyy smarter than me. they're good friends.

my exams are finished as of an hour ago!! my first year in grad school is over, and i'm actually surviving to tell the tale. this summer will be much more relaxed without classes. and more orioles games!

i'm off to explore DC and VA for the day!
