i've been avoiding this post because i figured i'd have to have some long and drawn out response to some of the replies to my earlier blog about bg. so instead of answering the arguments one by one, i'll say a couple of things and be done with it:
bowling green/ohio is good to come home to.
it's safe, it's the midwest, people are polite.
i grew up in the same town as i went to high school and college and consequently i can see random people all the time even when i'm back for only a day or two (like aaron mynatt).
bowling green is not diverse,
it's not like the real world, in that most people in the usa (and esp. other countries) are not as fortunate/well-off/safe as those in BG.
i am not saying these things because i enlightened or something like that. i merely have a new perspective from living here for the last year. i neither disprove nor look down on anyone who is in bowling green or anyone who is staying at bgsu. that would be pretty dang hypocritical seeing as how i've lived there for 22 years of my life.
i am saying that there is much more out there, and it may not be comfortable, and it may not be rosy, but it is an experience, a growing a experience, a thinking experience, and especially a learning experience.
that's all, i'm no martyr or hero, just a blogger :)
and bowling green doesn't have the 17-year cicada (this taken from jenna's frontyard!):
