tomorrow's the day. my marathon.

in an email I sent to some people:

The time has finally come. Marathon time! That's right, this Sunday at 8:30am I'll embark on 26 miles, 385 yards in the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington DC. Its my first marathon and I'm really excited about it. Several people from my church and from school will be running also, plus many friends will be on hand to watch. It'll be great (except for the running part!).

If you'd like to check my progess via email, cell phone text message, or just online, you can do so at http://www.marinemarathon.com and click on the link on the front page. To track me in realtime (through a chip on my shoe, that measures progress at four or five points throughout the race), you can regsiter with the online service. Or, if you prefer, just send me your email or phone number and I can sign you up through my account.

Hopefully I'll finish under 3:30 (that's in hours :) though to be honest, I'll just be happy to finish! My training has encompassed over 625 miles since May 20, so the legs are definitely in good shape.

Thanks for all your encouragement (& prayers)!
-Eric

PS - Rotorcraft center peeps- I might not come in on Monday because I might not be able to walk. Should be fine in a day or two though :)

bg hockey players suspended.
bghs alum in playboy.

i'm ashamed...and wondering what is wrong with BG. i guess its not new. but team hazing, a woman selling photos of her body for $$, i guess BG is not immune to the world. not that it ever was, but thinking on BG from DC, it seems far away from the "major" problems that the country deals with (terrorism, corporate crap, etc.). i guess i've "romanticized" BG since i left, thinking its a small rural town that keeps to itself and plays good football and everyone votes and goes to church and plays golf on the weekends and even (gosh!) buys wind-generated power. but maybe its an ordinary town where the college students haze and pretty girls are sold for $$. or maybe i'm just really conservative today. it's hard not to be, the way life goes out here...completely liberal on some issues, completely conservative on others. is it possible to be a liberal Christian? i'd say yes. but its conflicting sometimes. like right now.

four days till 26, 385. only 7 today (the taper continues).

okay. sorry about that.

this life has been a whirlwind in the last week, hence no updating.

jenna had ACL reconstruction surgery last week. notice i didn't say repair, but reconstruction. they cut out part of one of her other ligaments, and bolted it to her knee where the ACL was torn. hence, the reconstruction. that's what makes the scar on the front of the knee - you may have seen on beau holley or willis mcgahee. jenna can walk slowly, and can ben her knee to about 70 degrees - we're hoping for her to straighten and bend her knee fully over the next two weeks. physical therapy starts today. there's a lot more to write about this, but it's not necessary. thankfully jenna's mom is in town for the week to help out.

just six days until my first marathon. i've run 611 miles since may, from here to BG and back to columbus, and i'm ready for the race. its not a run, its a race. goal time is about 3:20, which is around 7:30 miles or so. its hard restraining myself, i've done a handful of sub-6:00 miles in the last few weeks. you know what the hardest part of my runs are these days? the first 20 minutes. so boring.

applying for jobs already? where? and when?

the band is still nameless, but the song count is rising.

world series, boston, yeah yeah yeah.
