yikes its been awhile. not so good on the ole' blogger. well here 'goes for today...
i defended my thesis last week at maryland in front of my 3-member committee and about 10 graduate students. my presentation took about an hour with several questions thrown in during the presentation, plus several afterwards. the committee excused the other students, and spoke to me directly regarding the quality of my thesis and of my research as a whole. some constructive criticism, some praise, some interesting questions. next they excused me from the room, and debated for no more than 5 minutes before i heard, "congratulations, we have passed you on your thesis defense. with minor revisions."
so basically, i have to revise some text and some figures captions, etc. one or two new equations, and one new figure. maybe a saturday afternoon's work. and after that, i'm officially finished. think the process takes a long time? so do i.
but i cleared off my desk and left the school for good.
